Royal Visit, March 2024

On a bright sunny Wednesday 24th March 2024 Her Majesty Queen Camilla paid a visit to the Isle of Man. She was meant to be accompanying His Majesty King Charles III but he was undergoing medical treatment and so she came alone to carry out the duties that he had intended to undertake.

Firstly she paid a visit to Douglas to confer City Status by way of letters patent. Douglas was elevated to a city by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as part of her Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. Then Queen Camilla travelled to Government House to meet 100’s of volunteers and to be officially photographed with certain groups such as the staff of Government House and the Captains of the Parish. As was customary when Royalty arrive at Isle of Man (Ronaldsway) Airport, the Captain of the Parish of Malew was part of the official welcoming party. On this occasion however the Chairman of Malew Commissioners was not included in the line out.

The photograph was taken just before touch down with His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor and Lady Lorimer in the front row. Behind them (left to right) is Hilary Leece formerly entitled ADC and Private Secretary but now renamed Chief of Staff to His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor, Peter Quayle, Captain of the Parish of Malew, Russ Foster KPM, Chief Constable and Andrew Jamieson, Operations Manager, Megacorp Aviation Ltd (The private jet centre).
