To celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution a community mosaic has been created in a shelter at Happy Valley, Port St Mary. It is the work of multi-disciplinary artist, Debra Tracy-Carney. Debra, a community artist/educator, involved approximately 200 volunteers from schools and local societies to apply the pieces. The mosaic depicts items such as the Chicken Rock Lighthouse, the rock formation known as the Burroo, the original Port St Mary lifeboat 'James Stevens No 1' and the current modern Trent Class lifeboat 'Gough Ritchie No 2'.
Photographed after the ceremony (below): Paul Costain Captain of the Parish of Rushen, Hon. Michelle Haywood MHK and Lady Lorimer who were present at the unveiling ceremony.
