Harvey Moss Briggs was sworn in as Captain of the Parish of Onchan by His Excellency Sir Timothy Daunt KCMG on 10th March 1997. He succeeded J.A.C.K. Nivison C.B.E. who stood down just prior to his 87th birthday. Jack passed away in 2003 at the age of 93. Harvey said he did not expect to be made Captain of the Parish for two reasons. Firstly he wasn’t Manx and secondly because of his age, he was 76 at the time. Harvey also stood down in due course in 2010 at the age of 90. Harvey was awarded the Tynwald Honour in 2008. He passed away on 5th February 2015 at the age of 94.
