Following the passing on 8th November of Roy Gelling, Captain of the Parish of Malew, His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor subsequently appointed Peter Quayle of Ballagraingey Farm, Malew, as his successor. In addition to farming Peter has been the principal auctioneer at Central Marts for several years. Peter's youth was spent in Marown being raised at Glenlough Farm and educated at Marown School. Peter's grandfather Thomas Quayle was Captain of the Parish of Marown, 1958 - 1960, and his father, George Douglas Quayle, was also Captain 1978 - 2001. Peter was sworn in as Captain of the Parish of Malew on 2nd February 2024 at Government House.
