On 22nd April the Captains had lunch at The Grosvenor Hotel in Andreas. The guest speaker was His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer. This event was instead of the meal normally held around Hollantide in order to give His Excellency a little time to settle in. On this occasion Lady Lorimer was off Island and so was unable to be present. His Excellency travelled to the event direct from Ronaldsway having just returned to the Island. He was met by the Captain of the Parish of Andreas and was introduced to the other Captains by the Senior Captain John Cannell of Michael. Not all the Captains were able to be present on this occasion. His Excellency spoke on his time in the Isle of Man since he was sworn in and advised that he looked forward to his civic visits to all the parishes, towns and villages of the Island.
Following his speech His Excellency was thanked by John Cannell the Senior Captain and was presented with a Captain's tie.
