Royal visit, 1996

The Captains of the Parish are expected to welcome His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor to the Parish when he makes a civic visit. The Captain always takes precedence over MHK’s, MLC’s and commissioners. Equally the Captain welcomes royalty to the parish.

Within the parish of Malew is Isle of Man Airport, Ronaldsway, and so the Captain of the Parish of Malew has the duty of welcoming members of the Royal Family to Malew when they arrive by plane.

On 24th June 1996 His Royal Highness the Prince Charles arrived and was welcomed by Sir Timothy Daunt KCMG, the Lieutenant Governor, who is seen here introducing those in the line-up.
