Captain of the Parish of Rushen's Moorhouse Farm has been the location of an annual occurrence which this year was held on Sunday 25th August. It is a poetry event which showcases the Island's talent and indeed its heritage. Both the Island's Manx Bard and Youth Bard are involved as well as others in competition.
The photograph shows Captain of the Parish Paul Costain, a piper and Bridget (known as Bridge) Carter a poet creator of both the Manx Bard and the Youth Bard, standing in the farm street at Moorhouse Farm. The dry stone wall in the background was built by Paul and is of significance to him as winner of the Cleveland Medal at The Guild on no fewer than three times (he has since retired from entry). The cope stones on the top (pointing upwards) are unusually tall as they have to be read with the round stones at their base. These Paul says represent musical notes - crotchets although the piper doesn't seem inclined to play them.
