The traditional Manx tale of a fateful meeting with the mermaid princess of the ocean, Teeval.
The Isle of Man is full of folklore, and a lot of this concerns mermaids. One of the most popular tales of an encounter with a mermaid on the shores of the Isle of Man is the story of Teeval.
With main characters in the King of Ulster, Conchubar, and the legendary blacksmith, Culain, the story is a wonderful reminder of the Island's cultural connections with Ireland.
The best-known telling of the Teeval tale comes from Sophia Morrison's 'Manx Fairy Tales.'
