Calling all creatives!
Whether you're an artist, musician, teacher, content creator, storyteller or just someone with a passion for Manx — Culture Vannin is offering up to 30 project grants of £500 to help bring the Manx language to life in exciting new ways ahead of the 2026 Year of the Manx Language.
No fluency is required, just creativity!
Whether you know a few Manx words or speak it every day, Culture Vannin is inviting you to explore and celebrate the language through your own creative lens.
The first deadline for applications is Friday 25 July 2025 and project ideas include creating new artwork, arranging songs for schools, organising concerts or workshops, taking Manx lessons to new audiences, using recorded samples of Manx speech in new electronic music tracks, and you can even suggest your own idea…
Treisht26 projects are based around five themes: Young People & Families; Identity & Sense of Place; Community & Creativity; Research & Resources; Lifelong Learning. These themes will sit at the heart of a year-long celebration throughout 2026. The Year of the Manx Language is organised by Jeebin, the Manx Language Network, a group of Manx language professionals, who work together for a secure future for the Manx language, increasing accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability.
What is Treisht?
Treisht means trust, confidence, or hope in Manx. The scheme first ran during lockdown – and now it’s back, bigger and bolder, ready to help spark a wave of creative energy around the language.
Director of Culture Vannin, Dr Breesha Maddrell, said:
'We have such an amazing creative community here in the Isle of Man, we hope to inspire people to connect with the Manx language in simple ways but to great effect. Even if you have no knowledge of Manx, supporting materials and guidance will be provided, and we are looking forward to seeing people enjoying making new connections, playing with the language creatively, or taking it to new audiences.'
This funding is a result of long-term planning specifically to support creative and language-based projects for the 2026 Year of the Manx Language — a once-in-a-generation celebration designed for the whole community to enjoy.
