Geoff Corkish MBE MLC is the new Vice-Chairman for Culture Vannin

Culture Vannin welcomes a new Vice-Chairman in the form of Geoff Corkish MBE, MLC. Geoff is a well-known member of Tynwald and of the Island’s musical community, and brings a wealth of experience and talent to the board. He has had a highly successful, lifelong association with solo and choral singing, is Director of the IOM Festival of Choirs and a Trustee of the Douglas Buxton Music Trust. As Chairman of the IOM Arts Council, he plays a strong role in raising the profile of and increasing participation in culture and the arts.

The organisation’s former Administrator, film-maker, musician and composer, Charles Guard, has moved to a new role as Archives and Projects Manager, where his work will concentrate on film, oral history and publishing. He will be responsible for updating Culture Vannin’s website with a rich archive of recordings made over the decades. [Contact Charles Guard ]

Dr Breesha Maddrell moves from her work as Manx Music Development Officer to that of Acting Director, bringing to the role her extensive experience within the organisation and as former Director of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Liverpool’s Centre for Manx Studies. Breesha has taught and published at all levels and in a wide range of subjects – her interdisciplinary approach to Manx Studies will provide good guidance to the board and staff of Culture Vannin.

Culture Vannin was adopted as the trading name for the Manx Heritage Foundation in February. A government agency, our mission is to take our culture forward in innovative and creative ways.
