Inverviewed in his 80s, Clifford Irving speaks extensively about his life, from the streets of Peel in the 1910s through to the seats of power in Tynwald across four decades from the 1950s to the 1990s. As well as a fascinating series of recollections about the Isle of Man in his youth, Clifford Irving recalls some of the most important poliical decisions which still resonate today, including the ending of corporal punshment on the Isle of Man ("the birch") and the transfer from tourism to the finance sector as the mainstay of the Manx economy.
