Description of life growing up in the 1930’s at Leece Lodge, Braddan, where Alan’s family farmed, of the ‘Jolly Millers’, a wartime entertainment troupe from Union Mills that included both Alan’s parents. Descriptions of characters and farmers from the Braddan area, Braddan School, Union Mills Chapel and the importance of chapel in the social calendar. Life in a Douglas boarding house in the 1960’s, National Service, memories such as of being brought up to the ‘Bridge’ on a Steam Packet boat by Captain ‘Ginger’ Bridson to sing hymns with him as the boat went up the Mersey.  Forty years of adjudicating the Braaid Eistedfodd, memories of other Eistedfodds, characters that took part, the formation of the Regal Singers. A musical life.
