A talk by Sarah L Christian about the groups of people who were overlooked or ostracised in the Isle of Man during the Victorian period.
As well as the poor and homeless, Sarah also addresses communities including Romani, LGBT, Jewish, Irish, sex workers and people of colour.
What emerges is a fascinating and little-known picture of the Isle of Man in the past, with many possible points of reflection for the Island today.
This talk was recorded live at its presentation for the Isle of Man Family History Society, in the Union Mills Methodist Chapel on Friday 17 January 2025 and is shared here with their kind permission.
