The Isle of Man's highest cultural award is the "RBV" - the Reih Bleeaney Vanannan (Manannan's Choice of the Year) - which is given each year to the person or group who have made the most significant contribution to the culture of the Isle of Man.
In 2018 this was awarded to Phil Kelly RBV, whose work for the Manx language over many decades has been outstanding and it continues to lead the way in its utilisation of technology. The award ceremony was done in St. John's at the start of February 2018, with speeches from Dr Breesha Maddrell (Director of Culture Vannin), the Hon Chris Thomas MHK (Chair of the Board), and Phil Kelly RBV. We are very grateful to Dollin Mercer, Bob Carswell and Manx Radio for permission to use this, their excellent recording of the event.
