A talk by Andy Wint, on George Bellairs, the great British crime novelist of the 1940s to 70s, who lived at Colby in the Isle of Man and set many of his novels around the Isle of Man.
Mild-mannered bank manager by day, bestselling crime writer by night - George Bellairs (the nom de plume of Harold Blundell - 1902-1982) was born in Lancashire but married a Manx woman and retired to the Island, where he continued his prolific writing career, which spanned four decades. The majority of his novels feature Inspector Littlejohn, and many of these were set in the Isle of Man. Until recently out of print, his books are being republished and a new generation of readers will be able to enjoy the Littlejohn mysteries.
The talk by Andy Wint was delivered at Onchan Library as a part of the 2016 Manx LitFest.
