1993 was a special year on the Isle of Man as it celebrated a unique collection of vintage transport including the Manx Electric Railway, which was a hundred years old, the Isle of Man Steam Railway, the Douglas Horse Trams and the Snaefell Mountain Railway.
Throughout the year there was a huge variety of events including double-headers, steam engines on the electric railway, illuminated night-time cars, visits to the Victorian workshops, sightings of rare freight trains and a unique Douglas cable car, as well as book signings, plaque unveilings and opportunities to see the restored Groudle Glen Railway and the Ramsey Pier engine.
There was also a vintage steam fair, Motorman lessons and visits from Fred Dibnah and Paul Scholey.
All of these extraordinary events were captured by the cameras of John Gaggs and originally issued in two parts on VHS tapes.
These classic programmes have long been unavailable but have now been brought together on this DVD which gives a new opportunity to enjoy the remarkable vintage transport heritage of the Isle of Man, much of which will never be seen again.
