taking our culture forward

The beautiful ruins of an outdoor swimming pool lie over the headlands from Peel.
Opened in 1893 and running until the 1950s, the pool is both a fascinating feature of the Manx coast and a wonderful starting point for finding out about the Manx tourism industry in the past.
Here Keith Hewson walks us around the site, explaining what it used to be like, and offering many of his own memories of the place as he knew it when he was a boy.

This film was shot in the summer of 2018. It is a part of our ongoing mission to record aspects of Manx cultural life in order to offer a sense of our developing Manx identity.
