The Isle of Man's highest cultural award is the "RBV" - the Reih Bleeaney Vanannan (Manannan's Choice of the Year) - which is given each year to the person or group who have made the most significant contribution to the culture of the Isle of Man.
In 2018 this was awarded to Phil Kelly RBV, whose work for the Manx language over many decades has been outstanding and it continues to lead the way in its utilisation of technology.
Manx Language Development Officer at Culture Vannin, Adrian Cain, has a conversation with Phil Kelly RBV about various things, including how Phil began learning the language, his work with Doug Fargher, his own work for the language, and the changing landscape of Manx and its visibility and place in the Isle of Man and further afield.
An extended version of this conversation is also available in Manx:
