taking our culture forward

One of the most important ancient religious sites in the Isle of Man is today almost forgotten on the far side of Maughold Head.

However, St. Maughold's Well was once legendary, with pilgrims travelling from all over the British Isles and beyond in the hope of receiving miraculous cures from the Holy Water reputedly originating at the arrival of St. Maughold on the Isle of Man.

Today the water continues to be collected by the parish church of Kirk Maughold and used for baptisms. This short film offers a short introduction to the well and its water thanks to one of the church wardens.
