taking our culture forward

Culture Vannin believes in developing and encouraging innovative and exciting projects that enable us all to engage meaningfully in our Island life. This makes the Island a more attractive place to live, adds to a sense of community and distinguishes us from our international competitors by reinforcing an inclusive national identity. A strong and vibrant language, exciting traditional music scene and growing sense of identity sends out a message to the world of a confident, innovative and proud island nation.

Our Strategy document tells you more.

Everything we do reflects our Core Values and Equality Statement.

We have a strong and proud history of supporting and promoting Manx culture through development, education and grant-giving work since we were established as the Manx Heritage Foundation by Act of Tynwald in 1982. Inspired by the Island of Culture celebrations throughout 2014, we adopted the trading name Culture Vannin, reflecting our continued work to promote our culture in inclusive, engaging and creative ways.

The Manx Heritage Foundation is registered charity number 333 in the Isle of Man.

Culture Vannin currently employs a Director and three development officers working in Manx Language, Manx Music, and Online and Educational Resources, who are supported by two part-time officers: Finance and Admin Officer, and Operations Officer, as well as an Hon Treasurer.

We work closely with government departments and organisations as well as businesses and charities in the private sector. We continue to develop resources for the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, work with DEFA on Biosphere Isle of Man, with the IOM Arts Council on key projects and the development of strategy, with Manx National Heritage, with Tourism and Creative Industries within the Department for Enterprise and many more.

We are co-founders of a key cross-government and voluntary sector group, the Manx Language Network, Jeebin.
