Quilliam Memorial
Fri, 28 Oct 2005
The Manx Heritage Foundation has been pleased to help with the funding of the new bronze bust of Captain John Quilliam which was unveiled on Trafalgar Day in 2005 as part of the commemorations of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar in which over sixty Manx men fought. Commissioned from Manx artist Bryan Kneale, the sculpture is a striking represntation of Quilliam in naval dress. Fittingly, it is placed in the Speaker's Garden below the walls of Castle Rushen and is just a short distance from Balcony House where Quilliam lived for a period after he retired.Complete T. E.
