A new guide aimed at encouraging firms to use some Manx Gaelic, and providing them assistance in doing so, was officially launched on Monday, 20th of March by the Chairman of the Foundation the Hon Tony Brown MHK and Andrew Corlett of Cains Advocates. The booklet and CD which is entitled Gaelg son Dellal: Manx for Businesses has been produced by Adrian Cain, the Foundation's Language Officer, and is the latest in a series of publications by the Foundation, all of which are aimed at raising the status and profile of the language. The guide, which has been supported by a number of local firms, includes suggestions on how firms can use Manx, examples of good practice and a CD of Manx phrases suitable for different occasions. Commenting on the publication, the Foundation's Language Officer said: "given the recent advances of the language within the education system it is hoped that firms will consider using the language in ways that are appropriate for them. The language is a great cultural asset for the Island and by using it firms can demonstrate a commitment to Manx as a living a relevant language for the 21st century". The Guide, which is free, will be distributed at various outlets throughout the Island but copies can be obtained directly from Adrian Cain on 838527 or at greinneyder@mhf.org.im Adrian can also provide information on translations, free lunch-time Manx Gaelic sessions and general information about the language.Dates and locations for the White Boys, 2024
