Arrane son Mannin (Song for Mann) is an annual competition in which groups perform newly composed Manx Gaelic songs in front of a jury. The winning song is taken to the Pan Celtic festival in Ireland and is performed in an inter-Celtic song contest.
For a number of years, Culture Vannin has annually provided a small grant of prize money for the winners of the Arrane son Mannin competition. Recently, Culture Vannin have also covered the cost of the venue and PA equipment for this community event.
This year's competition was won by Shenn Scoill with their song ' My Lomarcan Dy Feer' by Laura and Dave Rowles.
Translating as 'I'm Truly Alone', it was performed by Michelle Jamieson (lead vocals), David Rowles (guitar, vocals), Laura Rowles (fiddle, keyboard), and Fraser Grant (guitar).
The Pan-Celtic Award for a New Song in Traditional Style was awarded to Sharon Christian for her song 'Arrane Cadlee' (Lullaby).
This year's event coincided with the 40th anniversary celebrations for dance group Bock Yuan Fannee.
