The annual Cooish Festival celebrates Manx language and our Gaelic heritage. Culture Vannin has supported the festival for a number of years.
The 2012 Cooish ran from 7th - 13th October 2012 and featured a concert with renowned Scottish duo Donald Hay and Mary Macmaster, and the popular Ned Maddrell lecture given by linguistic anthropologist Emily McEwan-Fujita. Her well-attended talk explored the status of Scottish Gaelic in Nova Scotia. Many Manx classes and a Manx Gaelic lecture also ran throughout the week.
The festival provides the opportunity to come together, enjoy the culture and celebrate one of the really unique ways of belonging to the Isle of Man.
